The Joy of Quiet in today’s NYTimes.
Favorite part: “I just take walks and read and lose myself in the stillness, recalling that it’s only by stepping briefly away from my wife and bosses and friends that I’ll have anything useful to bring to them.”
Favorite irony: reading it on my Mac which was positioned next to my iPad which was just next to my iPhone while some TV show played just to provide me with background noise and a few magazines sat waiting to be read. Tomorrow.. tomorrow, I will meditate.

once you accept that you can do absolutely anything you really want to do, life is simple. You only have to decide what’s worth doing.

work on what you love.
We realize this is easy advice to give but it’s hard to follow. A million things warp your beliefs about what you actually really love to do. It causes you to work not on what you really love, but what you’d love to love. What is it you love? Do you work on that?
The reason I keep reblogging the heck out of this company and why I love it so much is because it’s messages constantly remind me that I’m never alone in the way I’m living loving my life. Sometimes all you need is a little reminder to keep on moving forward.
I may or may not have a second blog for all things design. I may or may not be in love with Rachel Antonoff’s new collaboration with Bass. I may or may not have just blogged about it on Design This Life. I was waiting to admit to my new-ish blog until I got around to actually posting every day style pictures but realistically that may take me awhile to finally get to and honestly, what’s the point in waiting for anything when it involves something you love? Design, style, fashion and all things related make my heart burst and the coolest part is that these things have nothing to do with my career path and are the first to ever fill up my soul the way acting, singing, writing music, etc always has. So, there you go tumblr followers, I’m outing myself. Check it out if you’re into that kind of thing. Isn’t following your bliss awesome? Go do whatever it is you want to do right now. Even if it’s just calling someone or dyeing your hair or learning how to play the harmonica. No more waiting. You’re awesome and waiting is not for awesome people.

I am happy to fail.
Last week, one of my best friends texted me to inquire if I could PLEASE get a husband or at least a boyfriend by January because she and her husband were planning to take a trip and want me to come along. I’m, uh, working on it.
Another announced loudly to the entire bar we were at about her immense shock over the fact that I was not only drinking a beer but that I was EATING. Repetitively. (For future reference: if maybe someone wasn’t eating a lot for a year or so and now they are, it is not always the best idea to draw attention to the fact that they are eating in public.)
And lastly, “We don’t ever consider Kerry when making our plans. We know she won’t commit until the last minute and so we just do what we want and hope she comes along.”
Even more proof of how well they all know me :o)
I think the best kinds of friendships are the ones where you can truly say anything and know that it’s all out of love. Plus, it provides endless laughter. Thank you friends <3
