What not to do at an audition:

Me: The sign-in is right there, on the chair.

She: Oh, thanks! Didn’t see it.

Me: No worries.

She: Did they give you sides? In the room?

Me: Oh, no, it’s just the ones they emailed out. Nothing new in the room.

She: Oh. They emailed sides? [picks up phone and starts scrolling through email] I totally didn’t even look.

Me: Don’t worry, it’s really easy, like two pages.

She: [laughs] I, like, always do this!

Check your email, fellow actors. Look for attachments. Especially when the email includes things like “sides are attached” or “see attachments” or “we sent you the sides in both pdf and word format”. Being a smart actor leads to being a working actor. Plus, she had no idea who I was - I came out of the room when she came in and could have easily been the assistant, the intern or the casting director’s daughter.

On a positive note? She had the cutest boots on.

Most Awesome Week Ever. 31.

Wanna know why week 31 (July 31 to August 6) was so freaking awesome?! I’ll tell you! It was so seriously awesome because:

  • Taylor Swift concert in Philly!!!! Floorseats. In the section that she walked through. Beautiful dancers. Costumes, set changes & special effects to put any Broadway show to shame. Fireworks. Oh man, it was really good.
  • Called in to audition for a concert version of a new show - which I did horribly at. But this was a great thing because it reminded me how much I love auditioning!
  • So I went to a second. And did so great that the director & cd asked about my availability.
  • And then a third. This one was voice-over. The casting dude & I ended up chatting a long while - one of my favorite things about auditions is meeting new people who all have great advice or stories.
  • Impromptu gathering for The Bachelorette finale. Please don’t judge me for watching this.
  • Going away party for one of my most dearest loves who is off to work on the next Top Chef.
  • Date with one of my sisters from tour for coffee & catching up. Date with my college roomie who is finally back in town from her last show.
  • Super long, awesome meeting on Friday to work on the new project I’m so excited about. Again, once it’s a go, I’ll be shamelessly self-promoting like a crazy lady ;)

All right friends, love every second of week 32 and send some prayers, good vibes, love to London. Be well & be kind :)
